How do I help my child set goals?
In this short video (2:50), Ron talks about goal setting and kids. He shares the process that he and his wife used to encourage their children to set goals, and he also talks about the importance of having goals as a couple.
As always, Ron’s encouragement to you is to go back to God’s Word to restore your faith. Take a moment to consider the following Scriptures on purpose and goals, and meditate on their Truth and their application.
Proverbs 16:1-3, (NASB)
“The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives. Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”
Proverbs 25:28, (NASB)
“Like a city that is broken into and without walls is a man who has no control over his spirit.”
Romans 12:1-2, (ESV)
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
II Corinthians 5:9-10, (NIV)
“So we make it our goal to please Him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
Philippians 3:12-14, (ESV)
“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me His own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
