The New Year: Forgetting What Lies Behind

In this short video (2:00), Ron gives a New Year’s admonition to follow Paul’s instruction in Philippians 3, where Scripture encourages us to “press on” financially with an eye toward the future and grace for the past. Ron calls to mind Christ’s own willingness to move confidently into His future on our behalf, and he encourages us to do the same.

As always, Ron’s encouragement to you is to go back to God’s Word to restore your faith. Take a moment to consider the following Scriptures, and meditate on their Truth and their application.

Isaiah 65:17 (NASB)
"For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.”

Romans 6:4 (NIV)
“We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

II Corinthians 5:17 (NASB)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

Philippians 3:7-9 (NASB)
“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.”

Philippians 3:12 (NASB)
“Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.”
